Until now, there were two types of rubbish bags available in the world;

  • The polyethylene (PE) rubbish bags (produced from petroleum)
  • The biodegradable rubbish bags (made from starch; potato/corn)
The Bio-base(d) rubbish bags are made from green PE. Whereas some compostable bags are still made from starch that needs to be specially produced, these bags are made from the waste of the sugarcane plant. The plant undergoes two washings during which the cane sugar is extracted. From the third and final washing, the green PE is extracted. The sugar cane plant absorbs CO² from the air during its entire life cycle; it is a nutrient source for the plant. It absorbs so much CO² that it has a positive effect on our environment.

The waste bag thus fills the gap between the biodegradable bags already available and the traditional PE bag. This makes the Bio-Base(d) rubbish bag the greenest rubbish bag on the market. It also offers prospects for the future. Indeed, to supply the whole world with green flexible PE, only 1% of the world's agricultural land is needed. Moreover, the Bio-Base(d) bags are completely recyclable and fully certified (TÜV / ISO / OK biobased).
