Smart use of materials
By using alternative materials, we produce sturdy bags with less material. This not only means cost savings for our customers, but also a reduction in the use of raw materials, which is good for the environment. Wherever possible, we use recycled plastic, and in this we are proud of our cooperation with a leading plastic collector. Base Packaging supplies the plastic bags for the collection of plastics (PMD), which are then recycled into granulate and eventually formed back into our plastic (waste) bags.
Sustainable Options for (Waste) Bags
At Base, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the planet. Our compostable and Bio-Based waste bags are one of our choices for more sustainable waste management. In producing these bags, we use new raw materials that emit less CO2 than conventional materials. We aim for the same high quality as current bin liners, so you keep the same result you are used to, but in a more sustainable way.

At Base Packaging, our premises exude sustainability not only through the outstanding quality of our products, but also thanks to our commitment to energy efficiency. Our roof features solar panels that generate renewable energy, while in our warehouse, smart motion sensors ensure that lights are only on when and where needed. And let's not forget our representatives; they choose hybrid cars, making their visits as environmentally friendly as our innovative bags.
But we go one step further. We are committed to more sustainable logistics solutions. Our fleet consists of electric trolleys and modern trucks with minimal CO2 emissions, showing that greener transport methods are the norm for us.

At Base Packaging, we recognise the problems surrounding plastic pollution, such as the well-known plastic soup in the ocean. While Europe is actively collecting and recycling plastics, we see that elsewhere in the world plastic waste is often handled in a less responsible manner.

At Base, we don't just focus on big initiatives, but are also actively committed to putting the collection process at municipalities and agencies on a more sustainable course. As much as 300,000 kg of plastic bags are used annually for PMD collection, an amount that worries us because collecting in this way contributes to additional plastic production. This is why we are introducing Bio-Base(d)®️ PMD bags as an alternative approach to make this process sustainable and contribute to the circular economy.
